Girls on the Run 5K and Glow Run

Girls on the run

The Girls on the Run 5K & Glow Run is coming up in the near future, giving you a chance to participate or volunteer and interact with girls who love running. This annual run is part of the national organization’s programming and is its main event of the year, so you don’t want to miss it.

Crucial Details

The Girls on the Run 5K & Glow Run will be held on Friday, June 1, at Noble Stadium right here in Ardmore. The activities begin at 7 p.m. Then, the 5K starts at 8:45 p.m. and the fun run starts five minutes later. Before this, the teams meet at 8:15, and there’s a warmup and stretching time at 8:30. Both races begin at the Ardmore High School’s Field House. Packet pickup is on Thursday, May 31, between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. at the gym or Friday, June 1, between 6 and 8:30 p.m. at the field house.

If you are already part of the Girls on the Run program, you won’t have to register to participate in the 5K. Otherwise, you should register by May 30. If you register by Monday, May 21, at 11:30 p.m., you’ll also get a free T-shirt! If you miss the deadline, there’s late registration at Ardmore High School’s gym on Thursday, May 31, between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. and on the day of the race at the Ardmore High School Field House. Registration is $20 for the one-mile fun run and $30 for the 5K for ages 3 and up. Running buddy volunteers 15 and over can register for $20. Late registration prices increase by $5.

Race Day Activities

In addition to the 5K and fun run, there will also be an inspiration station, music, photo booth, and spirit lines to provide plenty of excitement. All those activities begin at 7 p.m. to get everyone energized for the run.

Volunteer for the Event

To help the run go off without a hitch, the group will need more than 100 volunteers. You can volunteer to help with late registration and packet pickup; creating cheer teams; serving finish line refreshments; and with setting up, taking down, and pickup.

About Girls on the Run

While this upcoming 5K is one of the major events for Girls on the Run, this group is active all year long, including providing multiple 10-week programs to encourage girls in grades 3–8. The programs help inspire confidence, build character, learn care, build connections with others, and learn emotional and social competencies.
